-
While the model was executed on #18 canvas, #22 congress
cloth is a very suitable alternative.
-
For #18 canvas: 14" by 14" piece of canvas for an
approximate 10 1/2" square.
-
For #22 congress cloth: 12" by 12" piece of canvas
for an approximate 8 1/4" square.
-
Suggest the use of ecru or gray canvas rather than stark
white, the choice dependent upon the lightest value of silk (Color #5)
selected.
-
Note that the project is 186 x 186 canvas threads.
Silk Threads:
-
This project is most elegant when executed in silk thread
but cotton floss may be used instead.
-
Five values of thread are required:
Dominant color family -- Dark (Color #1), Medium (Color #2), Light (Color
#3)
Contrast Color -- Medium (Color #4)
Light neutral color -- Off-White, Eggshell, Ecru, Gray White or the like
(Color #5)
(NOTE: The yardage requirements given below are based on the use of A Ver A
Soie's Soie d'Alger 5-meter "mini" skeins.)
-
For #18 canvas: 1-2 skeins Color #1, 1 skein Color #2, 1
skein Color #3, 1 skein Color #4 and 3 skeins Color #5.
-
For #22 congress cloth (approximate quantities only): 1
skein Color #1, 1 skein Color #2, 1 skein Color #3, 1 skein Color #4 and 2-3
skeins Color #5. (If cotton floss is selected, purchase an extra skein
of each color in that thread weight for all the stitch variations must be
increased by one strand of thread to obtain full canvas coverage.)
Metallic Threads:
-
For #18 canvas: 1 spool each of Kreinik Braid #16 and #12.
-
For #22 congress cloth: 1 spool each of Kreinik Braid #12
and #8. (Suggest gold, silver or vatican gold.)
Miscellaneous:
-
For #18 canvas: #24 and #22 tapestry needles and 14" by
14" stretcher bar frame.
-
For #22 congress cloth: #26, #24 and #22 tapestry needles
and 12" by 12" stretcher bar frame.
